Gershwins’ Porgy and Bess is a thought provoking, gritty and spirited ‘Story of the unshakeable love between Porgy, a crippled beggar, and Bess, a beautiful woman haunted by the demons of her past. Gershwin’s jazz opera is infused with influences of jazz, gospel, and blues. This abbreviated telling features  Metropolitan Opera Bass Baritone Kevin Short and Marsha Thompson, who have toured the world as Porgy. Many songs have become popular jazz and blues covers, including the well-known ‘Summertime.”
